Programmers are truly plug and play in that all you need to do is plug them in to your OBDII port and the let the programmer guide you through the install process. No mechanic would be needed at all. An Insight like the CS2 part # EP84030 that you referenced is not required either. It could be used with a programmer that didn't come with any monitoring type displays but definitely not needed.

I reached out to my contact at Edge and he said that is typical of an older unit that is having technical issues. He recommended completely removing the unit and said your truck should start as normal. If that is the case, then the unit needs checked out and possibly repaired. If it won't start after removing the Edge tuner, then it is a mechanical issue that is unrelated to the tuner.

Most likely you blew a fuse. Typically on a GMC Sierra of your generation the OBDII port shares a power circuit for the cigarette lighter/aux power circuit. Sometimes radio circuit as well. view full answer...
I wish we carried a programmer that would fit the Cummins engine you have in your motorhome but we don't since the wiring harnesses are different from the Dodge trucks.
I do have some tips that may help your motorhome perform at it's peak though.
Make sure both fuel filters are clean. There should be one on the frame and one on the engine.
Make sure the lift pump is in good working order, when they go out they tend to cause power loss.
Your crankshaft sensor could also need to be replaced. view full answer...
I have spoken with my contact at Superchips before regarding the exact issue you are having with your Flashpaq F5 Performance Tuner # SU2845 on your 2004 GMC Sierra. He said that this can sometimes happen on trucks that have a remote start or aftermarket stereo installed. If this is the case on your truck, check the wires going back to the OBD-II port to see if there is anything spliced into the purple wire. If there is, go ahead and remove it.

I would first check to see if there has been an update for your Superchips Flashpaq F5 Performance Tuner - GM - Gas/Diesel, part # SU2845. If so, you should update your software. Once completed, try the tuning process again. According to Superchips, your battery will need slightly more than 12V of power, closer to 12.5V, to make changes to your tune.
